After Top News exclusively broke the news about former Minister of Interior, Demola Seriki’s younger brother, Fatai who is mentally ill and has been roaming the streets of Lagos, family members who had earlier ignored the young man to his fate, have now attended to him.
Fatai Seriki, half-brother of the popular politician, shares the same father with Demola while their mothers are different. The mentally challenged man who used to be a regular face in Agege area in tattered clothes or sometimes with just boxers’ shorts, is no longer a sight around the area any more.
An insider who lives close to Seriki’s family house in Agege area revealed that the family members have moved him to an undisclosed location for treatment.
When asked, the source said “it is true that Fatai has been taken away. We are not sure if he was moved to a traditional home or for Orthodox treatment but he is receiving treatment”.
It would be recalled that Fatai is not the first mentally ill person in the Seriki family as Fatai’s immediate senior brother, Mutiu Seriki from the same mother is also said to be battling insanity.
Tongues have in the past waged against the former Minister, wondering why he left his sibling alone to roam round the streets knowing he is not mentally stable. They are of the same father and surname, so he should bear the responsibility of taking care of him, since their father is late, some blamed while others say, the politician may have done his bit for the family.
We were unable to find out if Fatai was moved away for treatment by the former Minister solely, or the decision was made by family members.
