Must Read: What A Touching Story

Please read this: This is a real story of a young Ex-Unilag girl who passed away last month. Her name is Lola. She was hit by a car at Oyingbo on her way to work at Apapa. She was working with MTN. She had a boy friend named Emeka, a banker who was recently transferred to Abuja. Both of them were true lovers. She spent half of the day and most nights talking with Emeka on her phone.

Lola's family knew about their relationship. Emeka was very close to Lola's family in spite of the tribal differences. (just imagine their love). Click to continue.

Before she passed away at LUTH, she told her friends "If I pass away, please bury me with my cell phone" she also said the same thing to her parents.

After her death at LUTH, the attendants couldn't carry her body to the mortuary. A lot of them tried to do so but couldn't. So they went to call a priest in church who had the gift of communicating with the dead. He sprinkled some salt and water on the body and started speaking to himself slowly. After a few minutes, he said "this girl is missing something".

Then her friends told them about her intention to be buried with her phone. They asked them to bring a coffin, and then they opened it and placed her phone inside the casket. After that, they tried to carry the body which could now be moved and they carried it away easily.

Everyone was shocked. A day later which was Lola's birthday, Emeka came to their house with gifts but was so shocked to receive the news. He couldn't believe because he still spoke with Lola the previous day, he then tried calling her phone again in their presence and behold! It rang and Lola picked it and they were chatting. They called the priest to come and intervene and when he came and prayed for 5 hours, it was revealed that MTN is everywhere u go.

Chill,, don't hate me yet, cos I'm also looking for the idiot that sent me this......lolz. Buh una like gist sha.

Oya pass it on...share it with your friends.

Why I Killed My Grandmother And Neighbour

Olalonpe Ganiyu, until her death a couple of weeks ago, loved her relations to a fault. Blessed with several children, Olanlope, said to be close to a hundred years before her untimely death, showed great love and affection for her kin.

When one of her daughters died in early 2012, the elderly woman immediately took all the late daughter’s children into her custody. Olanlope lived at Yemetu in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Among the children Olanlope took into custody and caring for is 32-Year-Old Tajudeen Adekunle. But ever since Adekunle and his siblings had been living with their grandmother, the elderly woman and her grandson were said to have been dealing with each other like cat and dog. The no love lost relationship between grandmother and grandson came to a head recently when Adekunle allegedly hacked the old woman to death. Click to continue reading.

Evening of Sunday, October 15, 2012, Adekunle’s grandmother advised him to have a haircut as she was said not to be favourably disposed to his hair style. This had actually been a source of disagreement between them before that day.

The next day, Monday, October 16, 2012, when the old woman realised that Adekunle was not ready to do her billing, she reportedly refused to prepare the man’s dinner that day. This did not go down well with Adekunle who reportedly refused to change his ‘crazy’ hairstyle as claimed by the grandmother.

Both grandmother and grandson soon reportedly began to exchange abusive words.

When Adekunle realized that his grandmother was not backing down on her demands and insisting that he would not eat any food in the house that night if he failed to do what she wanted, he quickly dashed inside his room and came out with a cutlass, threatening the old woman with it.

But one elderly peacemaker, Busari Ogundeji, said to be a neighbour of the feuding family who could not pretend not to have heard the altercation between grandmother and grandson came around the house to intervene. When he got to Olanlope’s house, Ogundeji reportedly met Adekunle holding a cutlass and he reportedly joined Adekunle’s grandmother rebuking the enraged man.

Ogundeji was reported to have threatened that should Adekunle refuse to drop the cutlass and do what his grandmother ordered him to do; he would make him sweat by any means. At this point, Adekunle’s anger rose and he wasted no time in striking Ogundeji with the cutlass.

The cutlass reportedly inflicted deep cut on Ogundeji’s body and the elderly man slumped and laid in his own blood. When Olanlope saw what her grandson just did to a neighbour that had joined her to discipline him, the old woman made a dash for the door.

But Adekunle was faster. The hand holding the machete descended again but this time on his grandmother’s neck. The centenarian, like her male neighbour peace maker, also went down.

The two elderly citizens did not make it to the hospital before they joined their ancestors. Their corpses were later deposited at the Adeoyo General Hospital mortuary. Though it was reported that Adekunle upon realising what he had done made no efforts to flee the scene, he still held tight to the cutlass daring anyone who would confront him.

Adekunle was arrested. He was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, where he is being currently detained.

Adekunle managed to speak with reporters about his action:

According to him, he acted in self defense, saying that the threat not to give him dinner made him behaved the way he did. “I severally warned Mama to leave my hair alone but she refused to listen to me. What I did was the best solution to her problem.

The cutlass I used was the one we used to cut tree. It was kept inside the house. I hit her with the cutlass just to let me be. I did not know she would die. I just hit her with it to stop worrying me about my hair”, Adekunle said with no sense of remorse.

Acting Police Public Relations Officer of Oyo State Command, Joseph Oboyi, confirmed Adekunle’s arrest over the death of his grandmother and the man who came to make peace. Oboyi claimed that the accused would soon be prosecuted upon completion of investigations into the dastardly act.

Why I Left My Banking Job To Become A Truck Driver with Dangote - Ph.D Holder

Henry Pender is a graduate of Political Science from the University of Ibadan. Pender graduated in 2000 and has worked as a banker, yet he is among the about 100 graduates undergoing training to become truck drivers; or rather logistics assistants. Pender is also the class governor of this first batch of trainees.

“After my service, I had the privilege of being retained at the Rivers State Primary Education Board where I did my primary assignment.

I was with them for about a year before I joined the All States Trust Bank, which is now defunct. I worked with them for three years before I joined the Ecobank, from there I moved to the Oceanic Bank before joining Ecobank again after the acquisition of Oceanic Bank by Ecobank. Click to continue reading.

“I had to leave the banking industry when I married my colleague, because the human resource policy then did not allow spouses to work in the same office. I felt that my wife should stay behind while I as a man would look around for something to do. It wasn’t easy, because the job was not forthcoming as I thought. I attended a couple of interviews at different places, but I didn’t get what I was looking for.

“When this opportunity of becoming truck driver with Dangote presented itself, I applied with open mind. I felt that this is an opportunity for a new beginning to move into a new paradigm that is not explored. We have just begun the journey in the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT). I was pleasantly surprised when I came here to see people from different backgrounds and professions.

“We are all getting along very well. I am looking forward for an experience that would improve our larger society. Dangote has put something in place that would turn out to be a revolution in the transport industry in this country. I think this programme would eventually become a model that all organisations of international standard would adopt in no distance future.

“From personal point of view, I like driving. I have driven a lot since when I became a professional driver and I like travelling. But by coming here, I have been exposed to the academic side of driving. I feel that whatever I do as a graduate, there should be a level of expected difference from what a layman would do. I think the objective of employing graduates as drivers is for sanity to be restored on our highways. Most of us are victims of the recklessness of heavy truck drivers and this is what this initiative wants to address. We are being trained here to become complete gentlemen as drivers,” Pender said.

He explained that he has, essentially, decided to join the truck driving profession out of interest not for material reward.

“As at the time we had our interview, there was no mention of any material reward. It is now that we are hearing that after a successful driving for a certain period, or covering of certain mileage that one would own a truck or things like that. No such thing was mentioned; there was no mention of special incentives rather than we would be employed and paid salaries.

“What I would say lured me into joining the truck driving profession is the name Dangote that is known locally and internationally. I bet you that if it were some other companies that came up with this initiative, some of us may not be here but the mention of the name Dangote, one would know that there is quality; there is a personality behind it; there is international recognition; that is what lured most of us here beyond any other material gain.

“We only discovered the entrepreneurial incentive of this programme when we came here; when most of us have completed their registration. Being somebody who had the experience of the banking sector, I would quickly join Dangote, because I know I would have job security and we are enjoying ourselves here in the NITT as the pioneer batch of this training programme. I never knew there is an institute like the NITT in Nigeria. We are grateful to them for the knowledge they are impacting in us.

“I want to also use this medium to urge the youth of Nigeria to work hard. We have to make names for ourselves by working hard as it is not all of us who are children of the privileged, therefore we are here as part of our dignity of labour. I would rather stay here and do this work than apply for visa to go abroad and face all kinds of humiliation by washing toilets or driving taxi while I have a similar option here, which I would do with dignity and leave a good example for the upcoming ones,” Pender explained.

Love Is A Beautiful Thing! AGN Reunites Fred Amata With Ibinabo

For those who were at the upscale Rumors Night Club in Lagos recently for the inauguration of the newly elected president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fibresima, one thing sprang up a surprise.

And it was the rekindling of the romance between the ex-beauty Queen and renowned actor-cum producer Fred Amata. Please click to continue reading.

The ace-producer who decked in black suit  stormed the event venue, bubbling with life  and ever willing to give his support to the mother of his beautiful daughter. Interestingly, upon sighting Ibinabo, who was looking hot in her minis, Fred could not resist her glamorous appearance as he immediately stretched out his hands and hugged her ceaselessly. It was an eternity…

Fred, it was learnt was at the event,  to give his support to the half caste actress and also, to show her love again. Continue after the cut:

However, it would be called that during the electioneering campaigns, the renowned actor was strongly involved in campaigning for Ibinabo. It was no surprise therefore that he showed up at the event in support of Ibinabo’s victory at the polls.

By her  inauguration, Ibinabo has made history as the first female president of the guild. The event was well attended and the official handing over was observed in a warm and peaceful atmosphere. The turn-out signalled an end to the internal squabbles and controversies which  had almost reduced  the integrity of the AGN.

Nollywood diva, Genevieve Nnaji, led others to publicly declare their support for the new boss of the AGN.

Fiberesima wasted no time in outlining her agenda.“We are starting with a health insurance and pension scheme for actors and actresses.  It has never been done before. The motive is to put an end to the situation where actors go cap-in-hand to beg for money in times of difficulty.

“By the time we clock 100 days in office, the health insurance and the pension scheme would have been in place. As I speak, I’m just waiting for the data to ascertain how many actors and actresses who are members of the AGN.,” she stated.

Balance Your Life...For You Don't Know What Tomorrow Holds! RedSheet Magazine Editor Drops Another Hint

Sometimes our desires can be unlimited. We have to decide the level of basic necessities, what level of comfort and luxury we want for ourselves and our family. Life is too short. You need to set your priorities. Money and comfort is not everything which a family needs from you. What they really need is only you, your love, your time, because a family is incomplete even in the absence of one member.  So we need to understand this and need to maintain a balance in our life.
Here is a true life story I wrote and I will like to share with you. Click to continue reading.

Mr. Kelechukwu was a hardworking man who delivered bread as a living to support his wife and three children. He spent all his evenings after work attending classes, hoping to improve himself so that he could one day find a better paying job. Except for Sundays,

Kelechukwu hardly ate a meal together with his family. He worked and studied very hard because he wanted to provide his family with the best money could buy.

Whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.

The day came when the examination results were announced. To his joy, Kelechukwu passed, and with distinctions too! Soon after, he was offered a good job as a senior supervisor which paid handsomely.

Like a dream come true, Kelechukwu could now afford to provide his family with life's little luxuries like nice clothing, good food and vacation abroad.

However, the family still did not get to see Kelechukwu for most of the week. He continued to work very hard, hoping to be promoted to the position of manager. In fact, to make himself a worthily candidate for the promotion, he enrolled for another course at the National Open University of Nigeria, Lagos.

Again, whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.

Kelechukwu's hard work paid off and he was promoted. Happily, he decided to hire a maid to relieve his wife from her domestic tasks. He also felt that their three-room flat was no longer big enough; it would be nice for his family to be able to enjoy the facilities and comfort of a condominium. Having experienced the rewards of his hard work many times before, Kelechukwu resolved to further his studies and work at being promoted again.

The family still did not get to see much of him. In fact, sometimes Kelechukwu had to work on Sundays entertaining clients. Again, whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.

As expected, Kelechukwu's hard work paid off again and he bought a beautiful condominium overlooking the Coast of Banana Island, Lagos. On the first Sunday evening at their new home, Kelechukwu declared to his family that he has decided not to take anymore courses or pursue any more promotions. From then on he was going to devote more time to his family.

The next day, Kelechukwu did not wake up. He died.

The conclusion of the whole matter is, do what you can with what you have and where you are. God knows how much to give, so don't try to spend all time earning money, instead experience some love with family, friends which is very essential for your long term happiness because you don't know what tomorrow hold's.  Also we shouldn't ignore our life to enjoy our work and never work for life. So enjoy the life by keeping balance between job and work.

Pastor Chris Okotie: The Battle For The Vacant 'Mrs Okotie' Title

That the founder and the General Overseer of the Household of God Church, Pastor Chris Okotie packed it up with his second wife Stephanie Henshaw is no more news, just like the fact that a lot of people were caught unawares by his declaration that he was going to marry for the third time this December.

However, the announcement a couple of weeks back that the funky pastor will be getting married soon stirred some activities around his Oregun Lagos church, as some female members whose hopes were dashed when he decided to marry Stephanie four years back are currently jostling at the background to fill the vacant position of “Mrs Okotie.” Please click to continue reading.

Some of the ladies who are strongly rumoured to be on this list and whom the man of God has played a prominent role in their lives include:

Sola Salako, who was the church’s head of administration for several years,

Okotie’s close aide, Vien Tetsola, a former Miss Nigeria,

Ure Okezie, daughter of former minister, Dr. Okezie, who later dated hip-hop artiste Soul E, but who has since moved on,

Rose Elishama Ideh, who became a frequent visitor at many of Okotie’s church events, and who played a major role in his last presidential campaign.

All of these women quit the church in the heat of union then hoping that Okotie would one day wake up from the spell of the Calabar beauty, and their prayers were answered in June this year.

The argument of the women against the choice of Stephanie was that Pastor Chris had been the family pastor during her two marriages and Stephanie’s second husband was his oldest church member.

The story now is that since the pastor who was the presidential candidate of his Fresh Party is free from his marriage and has signified his intention to remarry, there is need to return as the race for the role of Mrs. Okotie is open.

First to signify her intention is Ure Okezie popularly known as Queen Ure.

When Okotie’s rejection pushed her into the arms of younger Soul E whom she dated for about four years before Soul E walked out of the relationship, she recently returned to the fold of the pastor that is known for his excessive grammatical expression laden sermon.

When questioned about Christ Vila, the church she co-owned with her ex-lover, she replied that she has returned to Pastor Chris Okotie’s Household of God Church and that she now worships there, raising questions as to why she chose to return to the church immediately after the break-up between the pastor and Stephanie.

Sources close to the church also revealed that it is a matter time before others like Vien Tetsola, and the rest return as the office of the wife of the pastor has now suddenly become vacant since most of the women in question are still single with the exception of the Roli Adeniyi who has since become married to the former vice-chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-west, Chief Olabode George.

80% of Prostitutes In Ogun State Are Undergraduates - Prof. Elizabeth Balogun

A university don, Prof. Elizabeth Balogun, on Wednesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, expressed her concern over the prevalence of prostitution among female undergraduates in the country.

Balogun said the sex trade had become rampant on Nigerian campuses to such an extent that 80 percent of prostitutes that patronise night clubs, hotels and tourist centres in Ogun State are students of tertiary institutions.

Prof. Balogun,a Biochemistry lecturer at the University of Ilorin, said this at a seminar organised by the National Association of Nigerian Students to mark its 31st anniversary where she delivered a lecture titled “Prostitution on our campuses: Effects and solutions.” Click to continue reading.

The guest speaker, who expressed regret said, “It is absurd to the level that young undergraduate lady would leave normal academic chores of attending lectures and visiting libraries for further studies during the day, only to metamorphose in the evening into a call-girl or pimp.

“There is no doubt that prostitution in the long run corrupts the quality of the nation’s future leaders and affects their values. Understanding that
young females constitute appreciable percentage of the nation’s population, little could be expected from them productively if they had been turned into cheap sexual machines, with warped self-esteem and self- actualisation.

“Inordinate desire for affluence and desperation by many Nigerians, especially ladies lure them to engage in immoral and illicit activities, despite high level of religiousness which Nigerians overtly demonstrate. Even the present scourge of HIV/AIDS and the menace of ritual killers that find easy prey among prostitutes, have not been strong enough to curb the rising trend of the practice.”

She urged the government to improve funding on education in order to drastically reduce cost of attaining higher education which will curb the rising trend of the practice.

UNILAG Student Hospitalised After Outing With Facebook Friend

A 21-year-old student has been hospitalised, after she was allegedly pushed down from the third floor of a building in  Lagos, following a disagreement with a man she met on the social network, Facebook.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Akabugu Nkiruka sustained multiple injuries, including a pelvis fracture, and was undergoing surgery at the General Hospital, Marina, Lagos, on Tuesday.

Nkiruka, a Linguistics student of the University of Lagos, told NAN on her hospital bed that she met the young man through the social media, barely a week before the November 1 incident.

She told NAN that the 26-year-old man (name withheld) last Wednesday invited her to a night club in Apapa from where they ended up in his family home at 1004 Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos.

She noted that the young man had earlier talked about sex on the phone prior to the outing but she told him she was menstruating.

Nkiruka said on getting to the house, the man tore her dress and tried to rape her.

According to Nkiruka, the man thereafter pushed her down from the third floor of the building because she refused to have sex with him.

When contacted, the man’s mother, who was at home on the night of the incident, however, told NAN that she was not aware of what happened.

She said she slept around 10pm, while the disagreement between the couple started much later.

The mother, who pleaded anonymity, said she paid part of the hospital bill immediately after Nkiruka was admitted, and even tried to transfer her to a private hospital.

“I took her as our own daughter and so, I can do anything that will make her recover quickly,’’ she added.

She insisted that her preliminary inquiry indicated that Nkiruka was not pushed by her son as alleged, but that she jumped on her own in the ensuing scuffle.

When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer of Bar Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, Mr. Fayoade Adegoke, told NAN that Nkiruka wrote in her statement that she jumped on her own, in order to escape being raped.

Adegoke said he ordered his men to convey the victim to the hospital immediately after he was informed of the incident by security guards in the area.

The DPO said the suspect was released on bail, pending further investigation into the matter.

NAN recalls that seven young men, including two who met a 24-year-old post-graduate student, Cynthia Osokogu, on facebook, are currently facing trial for allegedly raping and killing her in Lagos earlier this year.

Obama Wins Second Term As US President

Barack Obama has won the 2012 Presidential election, with CNN, MSNBC and Fox News all projecting that he has been re-elected.

In an explosion of movement and sound, people in the packed convention center that's Obama's party site cheered and stood waving small American flags.

"This happened because of you. Thank you,'' Obama tweeted. "We're all in this together. That's how we campaigned". Big congrats to him.
