Eldee Hires 9ice’s Former Manager, Dehinde

Dehinde Fajana, former manager of Alapomeji Records boss, 9ice, has now been signed by Eldee to become Trybe Records official manager. Eldee who was excited about the new relationship tweeted this ”please give a warm shout out and special welcome to Dehinde Fajana, new Trybe Records A&R executive.” We also heard an apartment in Lekki and a car goes with the deal.

9ice to contest for House of Representatives

Abolore Akande popularly known as 9ice disclosed on Saturday to Channels TV that, he will be contesting for House of Rep come 2015. In pursue of his dream, the singer is already taking an online course in Public Administration at Capella University after which he will also get a degree in Law. "You know in naija they believe if you don't go to school, they believe you can't govern, you can't lead, so it has become a barrier. In this era you have to be educated. Politics has been in me since i was young ", 9ice said.

He also spoke on the success of his double album, Bashorun Gaa and versus which was released in December. The album has sold 8million copies so far and the marketer gave me N50M, 9ice also stated.

We really can’t wait to see him get into politics. Seeing another side of him, will be fun.

Toni Payne is not pregnant for me….9ice

Here’s another shocker, or do we just call it an authentic report? 9ice went on twitter today to debunk the rumour about Toni Payne and him expecting another child together. Thank God I told you guys, my hands are clean over this and only wanted you guys to also read what I read somewhere.

In another phrase, I stand to be corrected, but Toni could actually be expecting a child. I hardly believe it when celebrities debunk rumours. Over to you guys.

9ice drops bombshell. I might still marry Toni Payne

Hehehe I go love oh. I seem not to understand this two, especially now. Someone told me Toni is back to 9ice, infact an inside source o, tile tile source, hmm. Who are these two fooling? 9ice says, Toni is out of his life today, tomorrow he says, I can still marry her, lol. If you ask me for my sincere opinion I will say, ‘it’s good to have them back as a couple’.

Here is what 9ice said to Vanguard Newspaper;

Q::::Do you enjoy your single life?

A:::::I will not say so. But now I think, If I say I want to travel to Lokoja, I can easily go because my son,  Zion will not be crying on my neck, 'daddy do not go'. Yes the freedom is there, but there are some elements that are missing in my life that I enjoyed as a married man.

Q:::::Like what?

A:::::Like waking up in the morning and my food is served and waiting on the table. Listening  to the cries of the baby is also a very joyous moment to me. Now I no longer have the baby to cuddle and hold on to, because he is not there. These are the things I miss in marriage.

Q::::Have you forgiven Toni?

A::::Most definitely, I can call her now. We are friends. If you want me to call her now, I will call her now.

Q:::::Will you give love another chance?

A:::::Definitely.

Q:::::With Toni?

A:::::No, it might not be with her but I will definitely give love a chance. And it might be with her as well, who knows?

Q::::::So love between you and her is not ruled out?

A::::::Yes.  It is not ruled out.

9ICE: talent, style and bad press

Taking a cursory look down memory lane, great men are touted to be great not because of the talent which they exhibit alone but because they make grave mistakes and even after being written off would always manage to rise above water and shut their critics up.

Abolore Akande a.k.a 9ice means a lot to different people. To many, he is a very talented songwriter, lyricist and singer who is also very down earth. To another set, he is talented but they have a problem with him because he doesn’t ‘flow’ with the time. The fact that he has refused to join the bandwagon of musicians who go into the studio to spew rubbish and sing about booze, sex and women and who try to imitate the ‘Western style’ of talking, singing and dressing has also gotten him into hot water with some others.

After the release of his 3rd album Tradition, he had a marital problem and so the cracks began for him. The album itself was not bad as it is very rich in lyrical content and definitely one for the matured minds but still mad media conspired to ‘kill’ the album. As a result of his problems with his wife, he lost so many fans who were unimpressed by spats between himself and his wife on Twitter. Then came the beef with rapper Ruggedman. All these led to a fall in his stock and here, the media saw the chance to finish him off.

Perusing through blogs then, I was always disappointed with many popular bloggers who came up with stories that they couldn’t substantiate; all in a bid to diminish his worth in the view of right thinking people. One popular blog accused 9ice of fighting physically in public but yet, this blogger couldn’t produce a single shred of evidence nor did he satisfy the doctrine of Audi Altarem Patem (hear the other side). A radio station in Ibadan claimed that 9ice was postponing the release of his double albums because he was broke.

The worst was one I saw on 360nobs.com; a certain guy called ‘Monk’ in his column which was published in November 2010. In the article, he claimed that 9ice was finished and should hang up his microphone. The writer displayed his ignorance and emotions when he claimed that 9ice had released a double album after Tradition and that they flopped (That was in 2010). I was miffed when I saw this and I had to ask friends if 9ice’s double album was out but no one had seen it. Ironically, the albums were just released a whole year after writing that maliciously intended write-up.

2011 was hell to fans of 9ice as the media had written him off. On December 7 2011, while I was in class awaiting my Civil Litigation lecturer for the day’s lecture, I saw on Twitter that the double albums – Bashorun Gaa and Versus were out and my heart skipped. I was unsure if the albums would make sense; not after the Nigerian media had almost turned me against him. However, the reviews I saw on Twitter were massive as people were rating the album an average of 4 stars over 5. I couldn’t wait for class to end as I bolted to Obalende and then every vendor told me that the albums had sold out.

After the massive entry of the albums into the market, one would expect the Nigerian Press to ‘hype’ them in their little way but many of them refused to even acknowledge the release of his albums. The conspiracy continued.

Many of the websites are still trying to downplay the success of the albums. On the January 6, a story emanated from thenetng.com or something where it was written that 9ice moved out of his House into Ogba and did that to severe contact with his associates. The unknown writer went ahead to state that 9ice was not A LIST and that Davido and Wizkid were better. That story, titled ‘9ice moves out of Ogba home, plans Solo Concert’ caused some uproar on Twitter and some notable websites circulated the story and spread the false assumptions.

To the issue of who is A list and who isn’t, the doctrine of Res Ipsa Loquitor applies. 9ice is up there with the Crème-de-la-crème of the music industry. His albums have gone platinum and he has won major National and International awards. Comparing him to Davido is worse as Davido has no album to date and I have never even heard his song.

I am sure his music and the success of his albums is an answer to his critics. He sure doesn’t have to reply them. Whatever is incessantly attacked must surely be so good. However, I am still expecting 360nobs.com or that ‘Monk’ of a guy to either affirm or deny that story published in November 2010. Meanwhile, affirming it would be a volte-face on their part while denying it would ensure that their credibility is at its lowest ebb.

All I am saying is that the Nigerian Press should not sacrifice sensationalism for credibility. Learn to say things the way they are and not the way you want them to be

The nominations list for the NMVA 2011 is out. And a lot of people have been discussing this on my BB. But two guys (one works for an award company, who also run a magazine and the other one an artiste manager) caught my fancy with what they said above. True or false? OMG I can write a full page on this.

A lot of people are of the opinion that 9ice has left Coded Tunes, and he has left for good. This is true, but according to sources, even though the no be mistake crooner has left the team, there’s no way you can write about his career without involving coded tunes. This he proved when he recently said this to someone, he says;

Indeed, no one can. Even when we don’t speak out, we are reminded in our inner minds.

9ice signs new artiste

Music act, 9ice has once again added another artiste to his Alapomeji Records. The new act we gathered is known as K Zeek, though not totally new to the music industry. He will be the fifth artiste 9ice has signed after the birth of Alapomeji. Here is hoping K Zeek will make the deal worth signing for 9ice, as just only little has been heard of the previously signed artistes.

Toni Payne might be back to 9ice, as daddy kisses son, Zion

There seem to be a big twist in all the drama going on in the life of 9ice and his estrange wife Toni Payne. Words have it that weeks back, Toni visited 9ice’s Abule Egba home and so forth…we all know the story. But the only thing that is not clear about the story is this? Is Toni really back to 9ice? Have they made up? 9ice is also back to his Twitter and Facebook accounts after closing them, when Toni decided to use the mediums to get at him. He was spotted just last week, giving his son a ‘heavenly’ kiss. The person who brought my knowledge to this picture, insists it is Zion, the estrange couple’s son. Though the pic to me looks like that of a girl, but he insists its Zion. Hmm, without any doubts, the estrange couple are gradually getting back, and we must say we love this. N.B we aren’t shocked that Zion’s hairdo rocks! It’s just a reflection of his mum. Nice one!

Toni Payne was married to no be mistake crooner, 9ice while Sumbo Ajaba happens to be one of tuface’s baby mama’s. Unknown to many, these two are very good close friends and even when some of Toni’s friends turned their backs against her for separating with 9ice, she was always there for her, giving her words of encouragements. Not too long ago, they were both spotted at Toni’s grandma’s birthday party, where Sumbo was of great assistance to her. Here’s hoping they make their friendship bolder to the world and in any case, we wish them a happy friendship.

Well it seems it is truly over between singer 9ice and his former wife Toni Payne. According to a source, an Abuja big babe who goes by the name Bukky has just put to bed a baby girl, in far away USA for the singer. Bukky and 9ice have been dating for quite some time now, but have decided to keep it secret. Everyone close to 9ice knows about Bukky, she is one of the major reasons why 9ice always visits the Federal Capital territory, the source said. Also adding that, Toni Payne knows about this, but can only do little or nothing about it, since she has been separated from the singer. This would be 9ice's second child, first was Zion from his previous relationship. Here is hoping things work out well between the singer and his new found love. We are happy for you jare.

Just like I recently broke the news about 9ice dropping a single for Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, he has also come out with a shocker and I’m breaking the news again. This is the singers wish for the governor, hear him: ‘How I wish babatunde raji fashola is the president’. Hmm, money is good o, ha owo, kudi, the root of all evil. I wonder how much 9ice was paid, cos this campaign no be small thing o. The name of the song 9ice dropped days back for the governor is called Eko O ni Baje. And he is about dropping another one for him, any moment from now. I call it Eko O ni Baje part 2 or let’s leave it at Obaje ti.

9ice drops single for fashola

At exactly 9.30pm tonight, the Alapomeji CEO, 9ice has just announced he will be dropping his single for Babatunde Raji Fashola in five minutes time. 9ice is one of the artistes campaigning for the Governor for his re-election into office in 2011.

9ice Drops Album 10/10/10

Alapomeji CEO 9ice has said he is ready to drop his new album come 10th of October. The album will be dropped 10am on 10/10/10. The album which is titled Bashorun Gaa consists of 14tracks which includes some remixes from his previous albums. Hopefully, Ruggedman and Toni’s palava is sure not weighing him down.
