UNILAG Student Hospitalised After Outing With Facebook Friend

A 21-year-old student has been hospitalised, after she was allegedly pushed down from the third floor of a building in  Lagos, following a disagreement with a man she met on the social network, Facebook.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Akabugu Nkiruka sustained multiple injuries, including a pelvis fracture, and was undergoing surgery at the General Hospital, Marina, Lagos, on Tuesday.

Nkiruka, a Linguistics student of the University of Lagos, told NAN on her hospital bed that she met the young man through the social media, barely a week before the November 1 incident.


She told NAN that the 26-year-old man (name withheld) last Wednesday invited her to a night club in Apapa from where they ended up in his family home at 1004 Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos.

She noted that the young man had earlier talked about sex on the phone prior to the outing but she told him she was menstruating.

Nkiruka said on getting to the house, the man tore her dress and tried to rape her.

According to Nkiruka, the man thereafter pushed her down from the third floor of the building because she refused to have sex with him.

When contacted, the man’s mother, who was at home on the night of the incident, however, told NAN that she was not aware of what happened.

She said she slept around 10pm, while the disagreement between the couple started much later.

The mother, who pleaded anonymity, said she paid part of the hospital bill immediately after Nkiruka was admitted, and even tried to transfer her to a private hospital.

“I took her as our own daughter and so, I can do anything that will make her recover quickly,’’ she added.

She insisted that her preliminary inquiry indicated that Nkiruka was not pushed by her son as alleged, but that she jumped on her own in the ensuing scuffle.

When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer of Bar Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, Mr. Fayoade Adegoke, told NAN that Nkiruka wrote in her statement that she jumped on her own, in order to escape being raped.

Adegoke said he ordered his men to convey the victim to the hospital immediately after he was informed of the incident by security guards in the area.

The DPO said the suspect was released on bail, pending further investigation into the matter.

NAN recalls that seven young men, including two who met a 24-year-old post-graduate student, Cynthia Osokogu, on facebook, are currently facing trial for allegedly raping and killing her in Lagos earlier this year.

P.M.NEWS investigation revealed that while the girl’s parents were away at work, the houseboy allegedly grabbed his boss’ six-year old daughter (name withheld) pulled off her clothes and had carnal knowledge of her.

When they returned returned from work, they noticed their daughter’s unusual mood. They later discovered blood in her private part.

The matter was reported to the police at Bode Thomas Divisional Headquarters. Thompson was arrested and investigated.

In his confessional statement, the suspect allegedly wrote: “When both of us were at home alone, I saw her body naked. I was charged and emotionally carried away.

He was arraigned before a family court sitting at Tinubu, Lagos Island.

The court ordered that Thompson be remanded at Kirikiri prisons, Apapa, Lagos.

Yabatech Student Drugged, Raped On Campus

A student of Yaba College of Technology, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, Adegoke Kehinde, has been arrested by the police for allegedly drugging and raping a female student (name withheld) on campus.

P.M.NEWS gathered that Kehinde reportedly lured the teenager to a spot within the school dormitory at about 10 p.m. on the day he allegedly committed the act and offered her drugged soft drink.

She was said to have slept off immediately she drank it. This allegedly enabled Kehinde to rape her.

The defendant reportedly confessed to the police that he had tried to have sex with her to no avail prior to that day.

He said he administered the drug on her drink so that she would get intoxicated and allow him have sex with her.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the victim became conscious the next day when she woke up naked on a bed with sperm dripping from her private part.

She felt humiliated and reported the matter to the police at Sabo, Yaba Division

The police  later arrested and charged Kehinde to court under Sections 237 and 266 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

He pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs S. K. Matepo,  granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The defendant was remanded in prison custody at Ikoyi as he could not meet the bail condition.

SHOCKING: Four UNILAG Students, Ages 18-19 Gang Rape 17-Year Old Female Student

Four students of the University of Lagos were on Tuesday charged before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly gang raping a 17-year-old female student.

The accused persons – Jeremiah Bamigbayan, 18; Lanre Olayemi, 19; Abisoye Atoyegbe, 18; and Nelson Onyeoziri, 18 – are facing a three-count charge of rape, conspiracy and assault.

He said the victim, a student of History and Strategic Studies of the same university, was overpowered and raped at about 10.30p.m. at Ozolua Boys Quarters on the campus.

Effiong said the offences contravened Section 258, 259 and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State 2011.

The four accused persons all pleaded not guilty to the charges. Magistrate Adesola Ikpatt granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

The case was subsequently adjourned to April 30 for trial.

35-year-old virgin raped by neighbor in Oyo State

Evelyn had embarked on fasting and praying, as directed by her pastor. And she did that for seven days. But on the seventh day, the devil decided to strike through one of her neighbours, Jide Afolabi. He burst into her room and raped her.

Alabi was said to have disguised himself, by dressing in a female attire, sneaked into her room and raped the 35 years old Evelyn (other names withheld), thereby subjecting her to both physical and psychological torture. The incident happened at Omitowoju, in Mokola area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

After he sneaked into her room, the 30 years old man allegedly tied her hands and used pillow to cover her mouth and face, before raping her. The victim was said to have raised alarm that attracted her neighbours, but help couldn’t come her way on time, until she managed to loose herself from the alleged rapist’s grip and rushed to the roadside and continued shouting.  Click to read more

A good Samaritan, who was passing by and heard her voice was said to have lent her a helping hand. No one could lay his hands on the suspect at that moment, as he bolted after the alleged crime.

When the victim rushed to the church and narrated her ordeal to her pastor, some members accompanied her to the house, where they saw the room turned upside down. They later reported the matter at Mokola Police Station .

Detectives from the station were said to have swung into action and arrested the suspect. Traumatized Evelyn said the incident was like a dream, adding that she was yet to come to terms with what happened to her.

She said: “As I was about concluding the seven days fasting and prayer, declared by our church, I saw a man who dressed like a woman and was holding knife. He locked all the doors and tied my hands with clothes and covered my mouth and eyes with pillow.”

“First, he asked for money and ransacked the  whole house and saw N1,000 in my album. He later forced me and had sexual intercourse with me.” Evelyn, who hails from Edo State, disclosed how she had preserved herself over the years, waiting for the time God would give her a  husband that would deflower her .

"My neighbour came like a thief in the night to rob me of my virginity", she lamented. She said that she had handed the matter over to God.

The suspect, who reacted to the allegation said it was the devil, who pushed him to act the way he did. “I raped her at about 10.00 a.m., when she was inside her room. I dressed like a woman  and went into her room. The exercise lasted for about ten minutes and I had to run away. I live with my mother and my two kids. My wife abandoned me  and our children, saying I couldn’t take care of her.

“I am a barber and I want to pick up my life once again. I was sleeping that day and suddenly woke up and went to sister Evelyn’s room and  raped her,” he confessed.

The Oyo State Police  Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Okanlawon described the incident as pathetic. He disclosed that the victim was taken  to a private hospital, adding that the doctor confirmed  that she was raped. He said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Iyaganku for further investigation.
