Al-Mustapha, Shofolahan appeal death sentence

Major Hamza al-Mustapha and Lateef Shofolahan have filed separate notices of appeal against the judgment of a Lagos High Court which on Monday sentenced them to death by hanging for the murder of the late Alhaja Kudirat Abiola. Their counsel, Mr. Olalekan Ojo, soon after filing the appeal yesterday said the convicts would be filing a stay of execution today.

Major Hamzat Al-Mustapha, the former CSO to late Junta, General Sani Abacha was today sentenced to death by hanging for conspiracy in the murder of late Chief Mko ’s wife, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola. Al-Mustapha is not the only one in the quagmire, he is also to be hanged alongside Lateef Shofolahan; Late Kudirat’s Personal Assistant believed to have conspired with Al-Mustapha to carry out the nefarious act.
